Sport Injuries

Sport can be a common cause of injuries that affect your daily living if left untreated. Repetitive movements without proper strength and conditioning can cause irreversible damages to your structures. We can help you maintain your goals in the sport that you love.

Common conditions you may be experiencing:

Sprains

stretching or partial tears of ligaments that cause pain and restricted movement. They are common in areas such as the ankle and wrist.

Strains

overstretching, partial or full tear to the muscle or tendons that causes pain and restricted movement. They are common in areas such as the back and hamstrings.

Dislocations

displacement of the joints usually due to an external force that causes pain, temporary disfigurement and restricted movement. They are common in areas such as the  shoulder, knee and ankle.

Bone fractures

an traumatic injury that causes a part or multiple parts  of your bone to be broken. They are common in areas such as the arm and ankle.

Ligament tears

partial or complete tear of the ligament that causes pain and restricted movement. The common tears are Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL), Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) and Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL).

Meniscus tear

a knee injury to the cartilage that protects your bones and joints, causing pain and restrictive movement. The common areas are the medial and lateral side of the knee.

What you can EXPECT

Our certified physiotherapists will evaluate your condition through a series of questions and physical and palpation examinations to establish the areas you have injured and find the root cause of the issue. Through our Patient Orientation Process, we will guide you through your condition at every step of the way.

Treatments may consist of:
Manual Therapy

Clinical approach utilising skilled, specific hands-on techniques with the benefits of diagnosing and treating soft tissues and joint structures for purpose of modulation pain, increasing range of motion (ROM), reducing or eliminating soft tissue inflammation, inducing relaxation and facilitating movement and improving function.

Mechanical Traction

Relief pressure on one or many spinal discs and pinched nerves of the spinal column.

Cryotherapy

Increase blood flow in tissues, decrease inflammation and pain and promote vasoconstriction which increases blood flow.

Ultrasound therapy

Helps with speeding up the healing process from the increase in blood flow, decreases in pain from the reduction of swelling and oedema.

Interferential therapy

Uses a mid-frequency electrical signal to treat muscular spasms and strains, producing a massaging effect over the affected area stimulating the secretion of endorphins which blankets the pain away.

Soft tissue massage

Help with decreasing pain and muscle spasm, increasing circulation and muscle flexibility and improving overall flexibility.

Exercises

Strength, mobility, flexibility training and cardiovascular conditioning will be taught to improve your physical strength, reduce pain and avoid the recurrence of future injury.
